A very different approach to baseball
I have three boys ages 12,10 and 8. They are all in baseball. Two of them have exceptional talent. The other likes to play and typically enjoys it. My husband and I have tried very hard to support them but not push them. We want them to love playing. I was watching my son who enjoys the game but is not driven to excel in it. He runs like he is on the moon, a slow motion exaggerated effort. It cracks me up. I love it. Anyways I was standing by the dug out talking with him and another mom walks up. She is always very intense, obviously knows a lot about baseball and believes in directing her children on the field. All good things. She was complementing her son on his play. He didn't really seam interested, was listening over his shoulder. Then when she said something specific about his hitting, he popped around and said, "do I get paid for that one?" My jaw dropped. She pays him for hitting good? Wow! Her son is a much better player than mine, hands down. ...
